SHOPPERS have been offered what is being called the ‘deal of the century’ by retail experts as Kevin Bakhurst placed the entirety of RTÉ on an online shopping marketplace at a heavily discounted price.

The listing on DoneDeal came with six pictures of RTÉ, taken with the flash on, at poor angles and in one photo the seller is visible in the a mirror, as is legally required when selling something online.

“National broadcaster for sale. Significantly reduced price. No time wasters. NOTE: buyer will still be required to pay Joe Duffy €350k a year for foreseeable future” read the listing, posting by Bakhurst at 9am this morning.

Trying to cash in on the fact the Late Late Toy Show falls on Black Friday, the Director General sees today as an opportune time coax someone into buying the broadcaster.

“500 quid and you get the Fair City set, like I think that’s good value personally,” offered Bakhurst, who will have to clear the sale with the government first.

Elsewhere, Bakhurst confirmed this year’s Toy Show will see children forced to bring their own toys to the studio while there will be a funding collection basket passed around for everyone in the audience with all donations to RTÉ welcome.
