Winter Conditions Warned For This Winter

MET Éireann has issued a code red Winter warning for this Winter, with wind, rain and even snow expected in all areas over the coming months.

The national meteorological service also predicted colder temperatures throughout the month of December and right into February and even March, leaving much of the general public in complete shock.

“We don’t mean to alarm anyone, but it is going to get very Wintery out there as Winter approaches,” said meteorologist Gerard Flemming.

It is not yet known if this recurring pattern of cold weather is linked to global warming, but scientists believe it may be down to an elliptical orbit around the sun.

“We can expect to experience freezing temperatures as the earth moves in orbit to the furthest point from the sun. This, mixed with an unfavourable tilt in the planet’s axis, maybe the reason why we once again will see further wind and rain hitting the majority of Western Europe.” said an expert in weather patterns Dr. Kevin Snow. “In fact, I would go so far as to say that we may see Winter like conditions again next year, in-and-around the same time too.”

Meanwhile, latest forecasts in Ireland are predicting winds of up to 110km/h tonight and tomorrow with wet rain to follow.

Irish Water also recorded a ‘bumper crop’ for November, stating it has been the most profitable month so far since setting up its water harvesting business last year.
