Rural Community Meeting Hears Town Is Simultaneously The Best Place To Live & A Decaying Isolated Hellhole With Nothing Going On

AT A MEETING convened to discuss a potential new development in the village of Mahercain has heard that no such development should go ahead as capacity for non-existent local services is at breaking point in what locals refer to as ‘heaven on earth’, WWN can report.

“You can’t just throw up new houses here, the school is falling apart and there’s no room, the road the estate is planned for is falling apart, the town is dead, what about the GP, he’s full to the brim? You can’t park in town for love nor money, not that you’d want to, there’s fuck all there,” said local resident John Gough, while also pointing out that Mahercain is the single most unique and beautiful town in Ireland.

“You think you can just dump a load of new people here, and what’ll they do, there’s nothing for them here, it’s a ghost town, there’s no amenities,” explained another resident, who also insisted Mahercain is a special place to raise a family.

The contentious meeting often heard from residents who were reluctant to see a greenway, three storey apartments and a number of other proposals come to fruition, on account of how miserable and destitute a place Mahercain is.

“You won’t find a better town, a better community, we don’t want to lose what’s precious and perfect about the town,” confirmed one fearful councillor who said they would vote against rezoning land for a small cul-de-sac of houses while at the same time reminding those in attendance the boil water notice remains in place until 2048.
