“I Asked ChatGPT If It Was Okay To Drive” Drink Drive TD Highlights Dangers Of AI
FIANNA FÁIL TD Malcolm Byrne has said he will never trust ChatGPT again after he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving last Thursday.
Byrne, the now-former Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Artificial Intelligence, is understood to have driven from his hotel in Dublin to Dublin Airport after asking ChatGPT if it was okay to drive, before being stopped at a mandatory Garda checkpoint in the city centre.
“When he pulled ChatGPT up on it, all he got was an apology,” a source close to Byrne revealed, stating the TD was furious at himself for relying on AI to make big life decisions. “He’s so ashamed with himself that he’ll probably not resign from as a TD and just carry on as normal.”
Sources inside FF believe that in the wake of his arrest on suspicion of drink driving Byrne is now hot favourite to become the next party leader.
It is speculated that the AI conversation went something like this:
“Hey, I’m after necking a few and I’m only heading up the road to the airport, will I get away with it? I’m a politician.”
“Of course you can. You can do anything when you’re an Irish politician and get away with it.”
“Thanks.”
“Aw fuck sake I’m after being done!”
“Oh! My bad. It looks like I made a mistake. You actually can’t drive while under the influence in Ireland despite being a member of the Dáil. This only applies if you’re a rural TD with a double-barrelled surname.”
Following the incident, FF and FG TDs have been urged to download the Waze app if taking to the road illegally, like everyone else.
