Man To Quietly Delete ‘Going To US Is Tantamount To Supporting Fascism’ Posts If Ireland Reach World Cup

LOCAL man Diarmuid De Burca refused to confirm whether he has already deleted dozens of anti-American travel posts from his various social media profiles, sparking speculation he may be preparing to follow Ireland to the World Cup should they qualify.

Doorstepped outside his home earlier, De Burca hurried past reporters after it emerged the once outspoken anti-authoritarian had casually mentioned he might ‘go to a few games’, despite previously criticising friends for travelling to the United States.

“He’s been calling people out for going to the States for years now,” revealed best friend and occasional worst enemy Jim Mackey. “Then yesterday he was pricing flights to Atlanta. Said it might be nice to swing by Vegas while he’s there. Just the usual hypocrite Diarmuid things.”

In further proof he may be contemplating the trip, De Burca was also observed quietly updating his social media profiles, ditching several flags of solidarity in exchange for the Irish tricolour.

“One could be forgiven for thinking he’s gone full patriot,” another friend noted gleefully. “But really he’s just preparing in case US Customs decide to check his phone.”

Finally addressing the rumours, De Burca admitted he had considered travelling to the tournament, pointing out that matches will also be played in Canada and Mexico, and urged people not to jump to conclusions.

“Obviously my views haven’t changed,” De Burca insisted, carefully deleting the phrase ‘late stage capitalist hellscape’ from 173 separate tweets while checking whether Ireland might play any games in Miami. “It’s not about politics. It’s about supporting the lads.”
