Shane Ross Required To Say ‘Up The Ra’ As Part Of Court Settlement
SOURCES close to Waterford Whispers News have suggested that a settlement reached in a defamation case taken by the husband of Mary Lou McDonald against former minister and author Shane Ross will involve a number of measures which will seek to heal the pain caused by libellous claims made in Ross’s book ‘Mary-Lou McDonald: a Republican Riddle’, suggesting Martin Lanigan was in the IRA.
“An agreement, which is of satisfaction to both parties has been reached, but the nature of it will remain confidential,” said a member of Martin Lanigan’s legal team outside the court yesterday.
However, others present in the rooms adjacent to the court were happy to speculate.
“Ross has to record himself saying ‘Up the Ra’ in a balaclava and send it into a Sinn Féin WhatsApp group,” confirmed our source.
“He has to say ‘cricket is shite’, make a donation to the IRA pension fund, add Kneecap to everyone of his Spotify playlists, honestly it’s quite punitive,” they added.
While some have called the alleged terms of the settlement petty, others point to it as a shining example of the power of restorative justice.
“Forcing Shane Ross to attend all 739 of The Wolfe Tones’ next set of final farewell gigs does more to heal the hurt than any cheque payment could,” offered a source.
