League Of Ireland Qualifies For The 2026 World Cup
THE WALKINSTOWN roundabout was a sea of green and white jerseys this morning as delighted League of Ireland fans celebrated a history-making qualification for the 2026 World Cup, WWN Sport can reveal.
With Dublin native and Cape Verde stalwart Pico Lopes helping to guide his side to World Cup qualification by topping CAF’s group D table, the ‘problem child’ that is the League of Ireland has succeeded where the Irish national team is failing.
“Ah you’d feel for the Manchester and Liverpool fans, it’s been so long since Ireland have gone to a World Cup, they’ve no idea what Irish success in football feels like, whereas we’ve been around Europe and now we’re off to the Big One,” confirmed one League of Ireland resident.
“Any chance Pico can fit the entire 23-man Irish national team into his carry on when he heads to America, Canada and Mexico?” some desperate Irish fans pleaded.
While celebrations are expected to go on for a few more days, some extra security measures are being put in place by the celebration police.
“We did it, we finally id it, 24 years away from the big leagues we’re finally back in business,” celebrated one fan who quickly had his celebration privileges revoked after historic ‘why would anyone follow that shite league’ Tweets resurfaced.
