Close Call: Waterford Man Speaks Of Only Being In Valencia 10 Years Ago
A LOCAL WATERFORD man is still reeling from the shock of narrowly avoiding the deadly flooding which has affected Valencia and other areas.
“I’m lucky to be speaking to you now, if anything it’s taught me not to take this life for granted,” explained Matthew O’Brien, who couldn’t believe his eyes when seeing reports of the devastating damage caused in a location he had only left in August 2014.
“Just thinking about it, if my brother had his destination wedding 3,555 days later we wouldn’t have stood a chance,” said O’Brien who wanted to make clear he was available for interviews in other local and national media outlets.
“It’s short notice but if the Late Late want me on tonight I can probably clock off work an hour early and head up to Dublin,” O’Brien added, visibly shaking as he watched footage of places he could have been in, but it wasn’t clear as he can’t really remember much other than the drinks reception at the wedding he attended.
Elsewhere, in a bid to offer their condolences to those affected by the flooding local climate change deniers said “Valencia had massive floods in the 1950s too so I don’t get what you’re so upset about it”.
