Temporary Traffic Lights Stuck On Red For 12 Days Now
NO, IMPATIENT MOTORISTS aren’t imagining things, a trail of 37 cars have been stuck on the lower Marcan Road for 12 days as the temporary traffic lights restricting the road to a single lane, put in place for routine road works, failed to change to green.
“I wasn’t sure, you know the way it just feels like it’s taking ages because they’re not normally there,” shared one motorist, who had over week’s worth of human waste stored in soft drink bottles dotted around their car.
While there had been instances of horn honking and frustrated revving, motorist had largely accepted the authority of the temporary traffic light.
“Of course you want to put the foot down and boot it, but you don’t want to look like an impatient prick or worse still be forced to reverse when traffic starts coming the other way ‘cos they’ve the green light, you don’t recover from embarrassment like that” added another motorist who missed their wedding and the marriage of their first born while in traffic limbo.
“On average, temporary traffic lights feel like they are as much as 60 minutes longer on the red light than your normal traffic lights but it’s important to respect the rules and preserve fellow motorists safety,” confirmed a local council spokesperson, who regretted the loss of life from starvation of a handful of motorists stuck in the queue.
UPDATE: The council’s initial pothole inspection is expected to finish sometime next month.
