Irish Barbers Opens In Istanbul
A LANDMARK business opening has made history as the first Irish barbers has been opened in Turkey, in the trendy Istanbul suburb of Karaköy, WWN can report.
After some careful market research, new proprietor of ‘Short Back & Sidez’ Cormac Curley realised there was a gap in the market.
“I figured since all the Turkish barbers were in Ireland and England and that, then jaysus the men over in Turkey probably have hair down to their ankles,” explained Curley.
The 25-year-old Irish man said his exotic shop has been welcomed with a cautious curiosity.
“It is a strange business, no? They do not set your ears on fire to singe the hairy ears. The haircut is over in 2 minutes. Is this Celtic sorcery?” one potential new customer observed.
“I think it’s great, it’s a novelty. I think yes, I’ll go there for my next haircut. All that care and attention, hot towel, smooth close shave, it’s too much, I want to experience the how do you say it? ‘Shite broccoli hair cut’? This is the Irish traditional hair experience,” added another Istanbul resident.
Others were less welcoming of the new addition to the fiercely competitive area of men’s barbering.
“C’mon. You’re not taking this seriously, are you? It’s clearly a money-laundering front. I’ve walked past 7 times today, it’s just 5 Irish guys sitting around chatting as they play loud trad music,” one critic expressed.
