Gianni Infantino To Appoint John Delaney In New ‘Head Of Transparency’ Role

IN A BID to relieve the intense pressure on his leadership as the head of FIFA, Gianni Infantino has sought to create a working group on transparency in the hope of conveying to member nations that he can still be trusted.

“With John Delaney heading up this new department, you know that I, Gianni, will have someone keeping a close eye on me, insuring there is no funny business and no more unilateral decisions without consulting anyone,” said Infantino, confident appointing such a learned and respected football administrator would bring an end to talk of replacing him as FIFA chief.

Delaney is said to have accepted the role after learning Head Of Sleeveen Operations already fell under Infantino’s remit.

“It’s great to be back in the football family, and I think this calls for a party, on the expenses account of course,” confirmed Delaney in his first address as Head of Transparency.

“If you want a red card overturned, or a bit of FIFA sold off, well you’ll have to go through me first,” added Delaney.

Delaney’s role will see him maintain FIFA’s flawless record of adhering strictly to their own processes and rules, with no room for under-handed back room deals.

“Don’t worry Gianni, what we’ll do is we’ll put the back room all the deals have been in and move that room to the front of FIFA HQ and in a clear glass conference room, that way it’ll look like it’s not a back room deal at all,” confirmed Delaney, tapping his nose in a conspiratorial manner.
