Calls Grow For Limerick To Start Next Year’s All-Ireland Final On Minus 10 Points

AFTER Limerick enjoyed a gentle afternoon stroll in Croke Park yesterday, the GAA are under increasing pressure to even things up when Limerick win next year’s All-Ireland.

“They’d still win by a few points obviously, but at least it gives us the illusion of hope,” confirmed one Galway supporter, putting his name to a petition calling on Limerick to start the showpiece event on the hurling calendar with minus 10 points.

“At this rate you’d need to split Limerick in 4, never mind 2, but I think this is the only viable solution,” offered another supporter.

The GAA has surprisingly embraced the idea in early correspondence with the supporters calling for Limerick to be docked points.

“We explored letting the opposition receive two points to every one for Limerick for an over the bar score, but the umpires have enough on their plate without us introducing complex maths,” explained GAA president Jarlath Burns.

Meanwhile, several Cork supporters, under the misapprehension they will be in next year’s final have suggested an alternative plan of simply ended the final at the half time juncture.
