THE NATION IS to observe a one minute rendition of The Sunday Game theme today after the passing of Michael Lyster, WWN can report.

“The Angelus will be replaced by The Sunday Game today, and there won’t be one complaint,” confirmed one broadcasting official.

All car speakers, GAA ground tannoys, bluetooth compatible devices and office radios will play the theme in honour of the man who was the face of GAA coverage for over 34 years with the song expected to be heard the length and breadth of the country.

While singing along to the theme tune is encouraged, GAA pundits have been urged not to break out into escalating rows over minor match incidents as the calm common sense voice of reason of Lyster is no longer there to say exactly what people at home were shouting at their TVs when pundits kick off.

“A legend, such a warm and sound presence for 34 years, never tired of him, and not a bad word said about him – in a country like Ireland, that’s not something special, that’s a miracle” said one GAA supporter, who can’t stand the sight of his loved for more than 5 minutes.

Misty-eyed schmozzles have also been confirmed for a number of forthcoming matches.
