“Not Even The Hotels Here Are Safe” – Irish Man In Dubai
SPEAKING to WWN from Dubai, Dublin man Daniel Kinahan said the sound of explosions over the weekend had left him feeling unexpectedly nostalgic.
“It reminded me of home,” the 48-year-old said. “Not even the hotels are safe anywhere these days.”
Kinahan, who has been residing in the UAE for what he described as “professional reasons”, said he and his father Christy would love to pop back to Ireland “if circumstances allowed.”
“Sometimes you miss the simple things,” he explained. “A pint of Guinness. A packet of Cheese & Onion Tayto. An extradition treaty.
Like many Irish migrants, Kinahan relocated to Dubai for lifestyle reasons, tax advantages and what officials have termed “strategic distance.”
Back home, one anonymous by-election candidate has called on anyone in Daniel’s position to come home immediately, insisting Ireland remains “a far safer environment for all concerned.”
Meanwhile, the Department of Education and the HSE reported a sudden wave of interest from Irish healthcare workers and teachers currently reassessing their overseas arrangements.
“We didn’t even have to change the pay,” a source clarified. “Both recruitment crises appear to have resolved themselves overnight.”
