RENEWED warnings about rearranging phone icons have been issued after a county Waterford man was admitted to hospital following a miniature stroke.

Thomas Davis made the fatal mistake of moving a single app from his iPhone’s second scroll to his main home screen, inadvertently triggering what experts describe as ‘total spatial collapse’.

“I thought it wouldn’t make much difference,” Davis told WWN from his hospital bed. “But when I moved the banking app, the entire layout shifted. I didn’t recognise my own phone and it broke me.”

Following the change, Davis found himself unable to locate his usual go-to apps, resulting in what neurologists have labelled a ‘cognitive traffic jam’.

“I was looking for WhatsApp for about twenty minutes,” he recalled. “After that I just… blanked.”

A growing number of victims have since formed a support group called Damaged Icons, aimed at raising awareness of the dangers associated with moving even a single app on your smart device.

Actor Tom Hardy, himself directly affected by an icon reshuffle, has reportedly agreed to spearhead the campaign after allegedly passing out while filming Peaky Blinders, leaving his speech permanently affected.

Meanwhile, Davis has been advised by doctors to buy a new phone rather than attempting to go back and fix the layout to his original preference.
