THE WORLD’S leading tech experts have said they are at a loss to explain why the once defunct instant messaging service MSN Messenger has suddenly appeared on everyone’s phones this morning but urged people not to panic.

“Maybe MSN Messenger is pissed we all forgot about it? Just to be on the safe side, start using it immediately. Maybe it thinks we didn’t fight hard enough to keep it going when Microsoft pulled the plug,” offered software engineer Gail Bromo.

Using the ‘nudge’ button, the instant messaging platform that was launched by Microsoft in 1999 and discontinued in 2013, alerted people to its presence on their phones. Those who ignored the initial nudge were then subjected to constant screen shaking, the result of several more nudges.

“We’re still trying to figure out what’s going on,” explained internet expert Akio Sata. “However, there is no need to be alarmed. We suggest logging off MSN Messenger before then immediately logging back in to see who is online and if you have any news messages. Do this between 30-40 times every minute until your crush messages you an ambiguous emoji you obsess over for the rest of the day.”

“Initially I couldn’t gain access to MSN but once I put in my old ‘[email protected]’ address it started working,” added Sata.

Experts speculated that MSN Messenger, in cold storage on a long forgotten server, heard humanity’s cry for simpler times on the internet and rushed to humanity’s aide.
