Irish Women’s Team Exit At Quarter Finals Stage In Solidarity With Men’s Team
NOT WANTING to further upstage their male counterparts with yet another semi-final appearance at a rugby World Cup, the Irish team at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup bowed at in a heartbreaking 18-13 defeat to France.
What at first appeared to be a hotly contested but ultimately agonising loss to a strong French side, now appears altogether different after Waterford Whispers News Sports: Women’s Edition: Rugby World Cup Special Edition Brought To You By GirlPower Insurance received confirmation that the Irish team felt that they couldn’t in good conscience progress to a semi-final and upstage the men yet again.
“Those bottle jobs over in the men’s team get enough grief over the quarter final exits, we didn’t want to heap more on them by breezing into a semi-final again,” confirmed one source close to the team.
However, the team insisted comparing the two teams isn’t fair to either outfit as they are vastly different sports.
“Look, in the women’s game it’s legal to bite another opponent on the arm apparently when you’re feeling a little peckish or need to stop the Irish team from gaining an advantage so this is really a case of apples and oranges, nothing is gained from comparing the two,” explained one source.
“But are dislike of the bastard French transcends all codes and forms of the game,” clarified the source.
