FOLLOWING the news that Independent Ireland MEP Ciaran Mullooly used AI software to write a letter to Ursula von der Leyen about Gaza, in which featured a completely fabricated story of a made up child and used lyrics from a Swedish House Mafia song, voters are questioning if this is really value for money representation.

Is Mullooly onto something? Could his job be replaced entirely by ChatGPT, saving the taxpayer the cost of his €107,000 a year salary plus travel expenses and staffing costs?

a) Yes, €107k divided by 5 million is what? €50,000 each? We’re rich!

b) No, AI was never meant to replace high-paying jobs for people with a profile and connections, just the low wage earners

c) It’s a slippery slope, you replace one person not arsed doing a job themselves and then I’ll be fired for putting my work mouse on a treadmill while I watch The Chase in my boxers on the couch

d) Prompt – write an apology to my constituents to convince them not to vote in a poll calling for me to be replaced in a job I’m outsourcing to AI
