Erdoğan Again Shows Support For Free & Fair Elections That End Up With Erdoğan In Power

A RARE bright light for liberal democracy amid a rise in authoritarianism around the world as Türkiye leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reaffirmed his commitment to free and fair elections as long they end up with him winning.

The news comes after Istanbul mayor and presumptive presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and dozens of his officials were arrested on corruption charges.

İmamoğlu is charged with ‘aiding an armed terrorist group’ for cooperating with a leftwing political coalition before local elections last year with additional charges of ‘could win election against Erdoğan’ to follow.

“Türkiye’s democracy is sacred, unless it looks like I could lose in which case arrests will be made, peaceful protestors will be beaten, incredibly humane plastic bullets will be fired and I’ll instruct a university to revoke İmamoğlu’s diploma which is needed to run for office of the president,” explained Erdoğan.

Bolstering his credentials as a fearful defender of democracy, Erdoğan enlisted the help of Elon Musk in shutting hundreds of X accounts which were showing support for İmamoğlu.

“Asking a hero of free speech to silence my rivals, yet more proof of my commitment to democracy,” confirmed Türkiye’s leader of 11 years and countless purges.

Elsewhere, Turkish diaspora with voting rights in the presidential election slated for 2028 confirmed that just because they left the country to prosper and escape creeping authoritarianism doesn’t mean they won’t vote for those still at home to be punished.
