Brave Government Valiantly Committed To Making Housing Crisis Even Worse With Garden Cabin Exemptions

“IT GENUINELY takes huge bravery to follow through on something this fucking stupid,” confirmed vast swathes of the Irish public, reacting to news that the housing crisis could get even worse thanks a proposal to remove planning permission for back garden cabins.

Under the current rules, a stand alone dwelling can be built in an area of 25sqm before planning permission is needed, with this potentially being expanded to 40sqm it could make trawling Daft.ie an even more monumentally depressing experience for people in full-time employment.

“You protested, you raged, you cried, you emigrated, all because you said you wanted quality rental properties for a fair price and affordable housing due to increased supply, so obviously we’re just going to create more opportunities for landlords to charge €1600 for a glorified garden shed,” confirmed a spokesperson for the Department of You’ve Got To Shitting Me.

“Oh I wonder what will happen to the value of a home that now can have an additional dwelling built in it without planning permission with high rent yield potential amid a housing crisis?” said one new born baby whose brain was nowhere near fully developed and yet knew more about the housing market than the government.

And it’s not just housing experts weighing in as even dating experts voiced their opinion.

“Find you a guy who loves you as much as FF/FG love backing policies that everyone warns will make the housing crisis worse,” one dating specialist said.

Meanwhile, landlords were unavailable for comment as they were too busy bulk buying brittle chalet cabins that come preinstalled with toxic mold.
