WWN Guide To Taking Nothing Away From McGregor

REGARDLESS of your opinions on Conor McGregor, you can’t take anything away from the man. On Saturday night, an ex-plumber from Crumlin took on one of the greatest boxers of our times, netting himself a multi-million dollar payday in the process. He may not have won, but that doesn’t mean you can take anything away from his accomplishments.

If, however, you feel that you can cast aspersions on McGregor and his actions over the last six months, we’re here to tell you that you can’t. You cannot take anything away from the man. Here’s why:

1) He’s after earning loads and loads of money

And if you have a problem with that, then you’re just a begrudger. No two ways about it. You cannot voice an opinion about how you think the whole thing was a circus concocted solely to make some incredibly rich people even richer, or how the legitimacy of the sport of boxing is forever tarnished due to the inclusion of someone who had never stood in a boxing ring professionally in his life. If you try to take away from McGregor’s accomplishment with this argument, you’re only a bollocks.

2) He’s less of a prick than Mayweather

Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather has a 50-0 winning streak, and it’s even higher than that if you count allegations of domestic abuse. There’s none of that on McGregor’s side that we know of, so he’s practically a saint in comparison. As such, you have to give McGregor a pass for any of his obnoxious, loudmouth, classless outbursts. He’s practically entitled to them, quite frankly!

3) He’s the right kind of racist

A lot of people tried to run McGregor down for his racist remarks, but you can’t take anything away from the man – he’s not racist racist, he just kinda sorta racist. Sound racist, you know what we mean. He’s only messing. ‘Dancing monkeys’… sure that’s grand. Our uncle calls people dancing monkeys all the time.

4) He’s Irish

A vote against McGregor is a vote against Ireland. You don’t want to look like you hate Ireland, do you? No? Ok. Get out there and let everyone know how proud you are of a man who beats people up for a living and who’s idea of class is a three-piece suit with the words ‘fuck you’ in the stitching. Wish him all the success in the world! Take nothing away from him!
