Cavan Man Goes Rummaging Through Drawer For Last Year’s Daffodil

WITH Daffodil Day 2017 in full swing all across the country, one Cavan local has spent the past hour or so rummaging around in the drawer of his coffee table looking for the Daffodil he bought last year.

Celebrating its 30th year of raising much-needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society, Daffodil Day sees members of communities across the country devote their time to selling Daffodil badges and stickers to generous people who recognise the need for further research and support to find new ways to ‘make cancer go fuck itself’.

It’s also the day where Shercock native Conleth Sherihan devotes his morning to finding the Daffodil he put away last year, in a bid to walk through town without having to contribute to anyone shaking a bucket outside a shop.

“Was it a pin, or a flower last year?” mused Sherihan, sifting through a year’s worth of old mail and general rubbish, before moving from his coffee table drawer to the bottom drawer in the kitchen to search further.

“More to the point, what is it this year? It’ll have to match or I’ll be under pressure to give them another 3 euro. I’m going out to the car to see did I leave this thing in the glovebox, otherwise I’ll have to head out to the field and pull a dandelion and hope they don’t look too closely as I walk by”.

If like Sherihan you can’t find your Daffodil this year and have to donate to the ICS all over again, you can do so here.
