GARDAI in the rural Tipperary village of Mullinahone are today appealing for witnesses after the driver of a green VW Golf never waved back at Peggy Holden, who was walking down the street at the time.

It is understood the ‘D’ reg car made its way up Kickham street about 2:45pm, before then entering the village.

“Not only did I wave, I also gave him a nod for good measure as well,” the 75-year-old recalled, “Then, all of a sudden, he passed me without even a wink or a smile. He just continued driving like there was no such thing as waving in the world at all. In all my years living in Mullinahone, I’ve never seen the likes of it”.

Mullinahone Garda, Tony Chapman said a full investigation into the incident is underway, and a forensic team is due at the scene later this evening.

“The man has been described as 20-30 years of age, with a slim build and short shaved hair, like he was up to something,” Garda Chapman stated, “There will be a reconstruction of the incident carried out tomorrow afternoon around the same time as the incident happened today, with the hope of jogging people’s memories in the area”.

This is the fourth such incident where a motorist failed to wave back at a pedestrian in Tipperary this year, leaving many people speculating that there is a serial snob on the loose.

More as we get it.
