37-YEAR-OLD Texas mother Candace Payne, better know to millions as the ‘Chewbacca Mom’ or ‘Chewbacca Mask Lady’ has been shot and killed by police today, after attempting to replicate the success of her viral video with a mask of a second Star Wars character.

Payne shot to internet fame in May of this year, after a video of her laughing hysterically wearing an electronic Wookie mask was shared hundreds of thousands of times.

Struggling to cope with a return to anonymity following her fleeting stardom, Candace went out yesterday and bought a mask of Finn, the character played by John Boyega in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Tragically, police on patrol in the downtown Dallas area spotted Candace recording herself in her car while wearing the mask and, following standard operating procedure for US police who spot a black person acting suspiciously, opened fire.

“We witnessed a black youth with what later turned out to be a camera, acting erratically in the front seat of a parked car, so we pumped him full of bullets,” admitted Deputy Hugh Zipowitsky of the Dallas PD.

“Unfortunately, it turned out to be Mrs. Payne goofing around trying to make another hilarious viral video. To anyone who wants to be an internet superstar we would like to ask them to do so responsibly, particularly if they’re white. Do not attempt to do anything that involves dressing as a black person, as your safety cannot be guaranteed”.

The corpse of Chewbacca Mom will appear on the Ellen show later this week.
