AMERICAN singer, songwriter, rapper and record producer Missy Elliot looked almost unrecognizable as she made a rare public appearance in L.A. last night.

The ‘Get Ur Freak On’ star shooed paparazzi photographers who flocked around her immediately after exiting a limo with her personal bodyguard.

“Haven’t you people seen a blonde white woman before?” she shouted, pushing several camera lenses away from her face. “Get out of my way, you vultures.”

Wearing a pink hoodie, white sunglasses, blonde hairdo and visibly lighter skin, the 44-year-old Virginia native made her way to a well known recording studio in the city, leaving behind hundreds of questions about her drastic new look.

“I think it suits her,” said Elliot’s manager, Mona Scott-Young. “We decided to go down the pretty white-girl route to make it easier for Missy to reintegrate back into the music industry. This was a joint decision between myself, Missy and her investors, who all agreed that returning to the charts as a middle-aged African American was never going to work in the industry’s current climate.”

In the late 1990s, the then black Missy Elliott expanded her career as a solo artist and rapper, eventually winning five Grammy Awards and selling over 30 million records in the United States. Elliott is the only female rapper to have six albums certified platinum by the RIAA, including one double platinum for her 2002 album.

“Unfortunately, those day’s are gone,” added the manager. “It’s sad that someone so talented like Missy has to spend three million euro to reinvent herself, but she’ll make that back on advertising facial products alone. Skinny white girls sell, and that’s the way it is I’m afraid. We got to adapt with the times.”

Missy Elliots comeback album Different Strokes is due to be released in January ’16.
